Fractional CO2 laser in New Cairo

Acne scars, enlarged pores, rough texture and fine wrinkles are hard to shift with creams alone. Fractional CO2 resurfacing is one of the most effective treatments for changing the texture of the skin itself. At NeoDerma Clinic in the Fifth Settlement, it is performed on the Lutronic eCO2 and Deka DOT, with settings and recovery planned around your scar type and skin tone.

How fractional CO2 works

A CO2 laser removes and heats tissue very precisely. "Fractional" means the beam is split into thousands of microscopic columns, so the laser treats tiny dots of skin and leaves the skin in between untouched. Those untouched bridges help the skin heal faster than with older, fully ablative lasers.

In each treated column, the body responds with a wound-healing process that builds new collagen and elastin over the following weeks and months. That remodelling is what gradually smooths scars, tightens pores and softens fine lines.

What it can help with

  • Acne scars, especially rolling and boxcar scars, and selected ice-pick scars as part of a combination plan
  • Surgical and injury scars, once they are mature
  • Enlarged pores
  • Rough, uneven texture
  • Fine lines and wrinkles, including around the eyes and mouth where suitable
  • Sun-damaged, tired-looking skin

Our technology: Lutronic eCO2 and Deka DOT

NeoDerma has two fractional CO2 platforms. Both let the doctor control the depth, density and energy of each pass, so treatment can be gentle for skin renewal or deeper for scars. Having both allows the settings to be matched to the area and to your skin type.

Fractional CO2 and skin tone

CO2 lasers can be used on many skin types, but medium and darker skin tones, common in Egypt, have a higher risk of temporary darkening after treatment (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation). This is why the doctor assesses your skin tone first, may use more conservative settings, may ask you to prepare your skin for a few weeks before, and will be strict about sun protection afterwards.

Who should wait

Fractional CO2 is usually postponed if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have used isotretinoin (Roaccutane) recently, have active acne, infection or a cold sore in the area, have a tendency to keloid scars, or have a recent tan. Tell the team about any history of cold sores, as preventive medicine may be advised.

Your treatment

  1. Assessment. The doctor examines your scars or skin concern, your skin tone and your history, and sets a plan with the number of sessions and expected downtime.
  2. Preparation. You may be given a skincare routine to use for a few weeks before.
  3. The session. A numbing cream is applied, usually for about 30 to 60 minutes. The laser itself usually takes 15 to 30 minutes for the full face. Most people feel heat and a prickling sensation.
  4. Right after. The skin feels hot and looks red, similar to sunburn. Soothing products are applied.

Downtime and recovery

Expect real downtime. A typical recovery usually looks like this:

  • Days 1 to 3: redness, swelling and a hot feeling.
  • Days 3 to 7: the skin darkens slightly and flakes or peels as tiny treated dots shed.
  • After about a week: most flaking has settled, and pinkness can last a few weeks, easily covered with makeup once the skin has healed.

Deeper settings mean longer recovery. Plan sessions around work and events.

How many sessions?

Some texture concerns improve after one session, but acne scars usually need a series of about 3 to 5 sessions, spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart. Results build over 3 to 6 months as new collagen forms. Fractional CO2 is often combined with other treatments in a long-term scar plan.

Aftercare

  • Keep the skin clean and moisturised with the products you are given.
  • Do not pick or scrub flaking skin.
  • Avoid makeup until the skin has healed, usually a few days.
  • Avoid sun completely in the first weeks and use strict sun protection for months. This matters in Cairo.
  • Avoid saunas, swimming and intense exercise until healed.
  • Restart actives such as retinoids only when the doctor says.

Frequently asked questions

What does fractional CO2 treat?

It can help selected acne scars, surgical scars, texture, pores and wrinkles after assessment.

Does fractional CO2 have downtime?

Yes. Redness, dryness and visible recovery are expected, usually about a week. Timing depends on the settings and your skin.

How many sessions do I need?

Scars usually need around 3 to 5 sessions or a combination plan. The number varies with scar type and depth.

Does it hurt?

A numbing cream is used. Most people feel heat and prickling during the session, and warmth for a few hours after.

Is it safe for dark skin?

It can be, with careful settings, preparation and strict sun protection, because darker skin has a higher risk of temporary pigmentation.

When will I see results?

Skin often looks smoother once it heals, and results keep improving for 3 to 6 months.
