Laser tattoo removal in New Cairo
A tattoo that no longer fits your life, a name you would rather forget,: laser can fade it, and in many cases clear it. At NeoDerma Clinic in the Fifth Settlement, tattoo removal is done with the Lutronic Spectra Q-switched laser, and every plan is built around your tattoo's colour, depth and location and your skin.
How laser tattoo removal works
Tattoo ink sits in the deeper layer of the skin as particles too large for the body to clear. A Q-switched laser fires extremely short, powerful pulses that shatter those particles into much smaller fragments. Over the following weeks, the body's immune system gradually carries the fragments away, and the tattoo fades.
Because the body clears ink a little at a time, removal happens over a series of sessions, with weeks of healing in between.
The technology: Lutronic Spectra
The Lutronic Spectra is a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. Its 1064 nm wavelength targets dark inks such as black and dark blue, and its 532 nm wavelength targets red, orange and some brown inks. Choosing the right wavelength and energy for each colour helps fade the ink while protecting the surrounding skin. The same laser is used at NeoDerma for pigment and laser toning.
What affects your result
Every tattoo is different. The number of sessions and how far it fades depend on:
- Colour. Black and dark blue usually respond best. Red responds well to the right wavelength. Green, light blue, yellow, white and some skin-tone inks are harder and may only fade.
- Ink amount and density. Professional tattoos usually hold more ink than amateur tattoos and take longer.
- Age. Older tattoos have often faded naturally and usually clear faster.
- Location. Areas with good circulation, such as the upper body, usually clear faster than hands, ankles and feet.
- Skin tone. Darker skin needs more conservative settings to protect against pigment changes, which can mean more sessions.
- Your health. Not smoking, staying active and following aftercare all help your body clear ink.
Some tattoos clear completely. Others fade a lot but leave a faint shadow. You will get an honest estimate at assessment.
Tattoo fading before a cover-up
If you plan to cover an old tattoo with a new design, a few sessions can lighten it enough to give your tattoo artist more freedom. This usually takes fewer sessions than full removal.
How many sessions?
Most tattoos usually need around 6 to 12 sessions for removal, and some need more. Sessions are usually spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart to let the skin heal and give your body time to clear ink, so full removal often takes a year or longer. Fading for a cover-up usually takes fewer sessions.
What to expect at your session
- Assessment. The doctor checks the tattoo's colours, size, age and location and your skin, and explains the likely number of sessions.
- Preparation. The area is cleaned, and numbing cream or cooling may be used for comfort.
- Treatment. Most people describe the feeling as hot snaps, like a rubber band. Small tattoos take a few minutes.
- Right after. The tattoo usually turns white for a short time ("frosting"), and the area may be red and swollen. A soothing dressing is applied.
Aftercare
- Keep the area clean and dry, and follow the dressing instructions you are given.
- Pinpoint bleeding, blisters or crusts can form. Do not pick or pop them.
- Avoid swimming, saunas and soaking the area until it has healed.
- Protect the area from the sun, during treatment and after.
- Contact the clinic if you see signs of infection, such as spreading redness, pus or increasing pain.
Who should wait
Treatment is usually postponed during pregnancy, over a recent tan or sunburn, over active skin infection, or if you have recently used isotretinoin (Roaccutane). Tell the team if you form keloid scars easily.

Frequently asked questions
Can all tattoo colours be removed?
Different ink colours respond differently. Black and dark blue usually respond best, while green, light blue, yellow and white are harder. The clinic reviews colour, depth and density before estimating the plan.
Does tattoo removal need multiple sessions?
Yes. It usually needs multiple sessions spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart so the skin can recover and the body can clear ink.
Does laser tattoo removal hurt?
Most people feel hot snaps during the pulses. Numbing cream and cooling help, and sessions for small tattoos are short.
Will it leave a scar?
With appropriate settings and good aftercare, scarring is uncommon. Picking scabs or infection raises the risk, and some tattoos already have scarring from when they were done.
Can I fade a tattoo for a cover-up?
Yes. A few sessions can lighten a tattoo enough for a new design.
Can I book tattoo removal by WhatsApp?
Yes. Send a photo and details on WhatsApp for initial guidance and appointment timing.
How much does tattoo removal cost?
Prices are not listed online. Send a photo on WhatsApp for a quote based on size and colours.
